Virginie Ropars

Doll Artist

These dolls are one-of-a-kind sculptures who's influences range from modern fairy tales to classic works of art. All of these elements - from the haggardly Dickensian facial expressions to the elaborately detailed costumes and poses - come across in each of Ropars' works. And even though the nymphs, witches and other creatures she creates are pure fantasy, Ropars has a special talent for making them look eerily real.

She started as a 2-D texture artist in video games, and slowly became a 3-D modeler. In her spare time she made a lot of clothes, jewelry, drawings, leather accessories and embroideries. Doll making became the perfect medium that would bring all these things together with never-ending possibilities.

For those who have never read The Little Prince, I recommend that you do! It's a very poetic story.

LEVI VAN VELUW

LEVI VAN VELUW

Levi van Veluw´s photo series are self-portraits, drawn and photographed by himself: a one-man-process. His works constitute elemental transfers; modifying the face as object; combining it with other stylistic elements to create a third visual object of great visual impact. The work you see therefore is not a portrait, but an information-rich image of colour, form, texture, and content.
